What LinkedIn Ads Get Right (A Marketer’s Take)
I’m in Meta, Google, and LinkedIn Ads regularly — and when the goal is B2B precision, LinkedIn is the platform I trust most.
Here’s what LinkedIn Ads consistently does right.
1) It’s built for professional intent (and the targeting actually reflects that)
LinkedIn’s biggest strength is that its targeting is tied to what the platform is: a professional network.
When I need to reach a specific buyer or audience segment, I can target by job title, seniority, function, industry, company size, years of experience — and then layer in retargeting to move people through the funnel.
That means less guessing, fewer weird workarounds, and a much clearer line between audience strategy → campaign execution. Especially for B2B.
2) It gives me more predictable control
AI-driven targeting can be amazing. Meta and Google do this extremely well.
But in real life, not every campaign benefits from giving the algorithm “more freedom.” Sometimes you want the machine to explore. Other times you need the spend to stay aligned with a specific budget or a defined list of accounts — and you don’t want budget quietly drifting into “close enough.”
On LinkedIn, I generally find it easier to keep that intentional control over the audience and the budget — which matters a lot when you’re trying to reach the right people, not just more people.
3) Support can actually impact performance
Good support doesn’t replace strategy — but it can absolutely speed things up.
In the last year, I worked with LinkedIn support contacts who were responsive, practical, and genuinely invested in outcomes. And honestly, that makes a difference when you’re investing as much money as LinkedIn requires for competitive results.
4) The formats fit real B2B workflows
LinkedIn’s formats match so well how people behave on the platform. For example:
Message / Conversation Ads for direct-response and higher intent actions (when used thoughtfully)
Event Ads for webinar + event growth
Strong native options for video, carousel, and single image when you need awareness and retargeting paths
When your campaign goal is tied to professional actions — register, attend, book a meeting, download — LinkedIn formats often fit more naturally than trying to force the same playbook across every platform.
Bottom line
LinkedIn isn’t the cheapest platform, and it’s not always the right one. But if your goal is high-quality B2B reach, clear audience definition, and tighter control, it’s hard to beat.
